An exceptional piece of patent medicine history: this aqua glass bottle originally contained Dr. D. Jayne's Tonic Vermifuge, a popular 19th-century remedy manufactured in Philadelphia. The embossed text on the front clearly reads "DR. D. JAYNE'S TONIC VERMIFUGE" with the address "242 CHES ST PHILA" (242 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia), dating this bottle to the 1890s era.

This small rectangular bottle features the characteristic light blue-green aqua glass typical of late Victorian medicinal bottles, with a sloped shoulder design and original cork stopper opening. The embossed lettering remains crisp and legible, showcasing the quality of period glassmaking. Vermifuges were formulated to expel parasitic worms and were among the most commonly marketed remedies of the era.

An excellent example for collectors of pharmaceutical antiques, patent medicine memorabilia, and 19th-century American commercial glass. The bottle shows honest age patina and authentic wear consistent with its era and use.
