A matched pair of vintage stone bookends, each engraved with a scene of hooded figures in parkas and boots beside igloos and a sled-like tool. The white incised lines stand out clearly against the dark grey-green stone, and the scenes are shown on two faces of each piece.

The base of one bookend carries a hand-scratched Dimu. The stone shows light scuffs and surface marks consistent with age and use, and the bases sit flat and steady.

These make a warm, characterful addition to a bookshelf, desk or mantel and suit collectors of Canadian Arctic-style carving and folk art.
