This vintage LIFE magazine, dated December 7, 1962, is a Part II feature on "The Human Body," with the cover story "How Your Body Converts Food to Fuel." The cover illustration shows a sketched runner with red and blue arrows tracing blood flow through the heart and body, while a man in a plaid shirt runs past holding a bag, a striking early-1960s graphic style.
Inside the issue, the back cover advertises L&M filter cigarettes with a holiday scene of a family in bright red and yellow coats and a soldier carrying gift packages, a glimpse of everyday American life at the time. The copy is printed at a cover price of 20 cents, and the paper shows light wear, scuffs and some dirt, consistent with its age.
A wonderful piece for collectors of mid-century periodicals, Cold War era americana, or anyone interested in early 1960s advertising and magazine design. It arrives in its original clear plastic sleeve.
