This vintage Snap-on MT-552 battery, alternator and starter load tester sits on its original red-painted metal rolling cart with chrome-finished handles. The tester's front panel carries a D.C. Amps meter with an Alternator Diode Test scale marked DEF. and OK, a D.C. Volts meter reading 0 to 20 with a 0 to 4 scale, a load control knob, a zero reset switch, and a 20V INT / 4V EXT selector. Maker's markings include Snap-on Tools Corporation, Kenosha, Wisconsin, U.S.A., model MT 552, and a printed set of basic test instructions on the top panel.
The wear is honest and visible: scuffed paint, rust spotting on the cart legs and lower shelf, and a worn chrome handle. The meter faces are clean and legible, and the panel printing is still crisp. The cart's shape and the styling of the instrument face point to the mid-century period, roughly the 1950s-60s.
A practical piece for a garage collector, an automotive display, or a shop that loves old Snap-on equipment. Test leads and cables are included as shown in the photos, and the voltmeter works.
