A vintage glass spice shaker from Hay Hoe's, the Toronto spice house of R-B Hay Hoe & Co. Limited. The clear glass jar has a paper label printed in red and black with the R-B logo and the words Pure Spices and Black Pepper, and it still holds a quantity of pepper.

The label shows its age, with flaking, staining and losses around the top and sides, which is typical of older paper labels. The metal shaker top is perforated for sprinkling and carries some light rust and wear. It is a nice reminder of the Canadian spice trade and the kitchen tables of earlier decades.
