This is a January 6, 1942 edition of The Vancouver Daily Province, shown here as two large pages. The front page headlines report Roosevelt saying U.S. forces will fight in Britain or anywhere, and the paper also covers the Singapore campaign, Vichy France and the Philippines, all within weeks of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The paper shows its age with worn edges, tears, fold lines and some staining, as seen in the photos. Its 1940s typography, photographs and newspaper advertisements, including Hudson's Bay and The Bay sale pages, give a clear picture of daily life on the home front.
