This is an authentic WW2-era Light Magneto Timing Device Type B-1, manufactured by Standard Electrical Products Co. of Dayton, Ohio under U.S. military contract. The unit features a black metal housing with two large jeweled indicator windows, multiple adjustment screws, and a toggle switch, all mounted on a robust bakelite panel. Original cloth-insulated wiring with period-correct connectors is intact inside the enclosure.

According to the specification plate (MIL-L-7857), this precision instrument was used in military aircraft ignition systems to ensure accurate magneto timing—critical for reliable engine performance. The yellowed instruction card still accompanies the device, offering period documentation of its operating procedures and technical details.

Untested and offered as-is for the serious militaria or aviation collectible enthusiast. The case shows authentic age and wear consistent with decades of storage. A scarce piece of American military aviation technology from the 1940s era.
