The unit features a black metal housing with two large jeweled indicator windows, multiple adjustment screws, and a toggle switch, all mounted on a robust bakelite panel. Original cloth-insulated wiring with period-correct connectors is intact inside the enclosure.

According to the specification plate (MIL-L-7857), this precision instrument was used in military aircraft ignition systems to ensure accurate magneto timing—critical for reliable engine performance.
